Job summary

AeroVironment, based in California, offers a Summer Internship Program in Autonomy & Robotics Engineering. Interns work on autonomous behaviors, machine perception, and robotic control for UAS in a fast-paced R&D environment.

You will gain hands-on experience with algorithm development, simulation, and hardware integration while receiving mentorship from senior engineers. The program runs for 12 weeks onsite across AV locations.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in CS, Aerospace, EE, Robotics or related field.
• Coursework in robotics, autonomy, or computer vision is expected.
• Proficiency in C/C++ (C++11+ preferred) and familiarity with Python/MATLAB for data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Assist design, implementation, and testing of algorithms for vision, GNC with visual sensors, state estimation, and autonomous behavior.
• Support autonomy software development on simulation platforms and real hardware.
• Collaborate on testing, data collection, and experimental design; participate in code reviews and integration.
• Document findings and present results in internal reports or presentations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
