Job summary

AeroVironment, based in California, offers a paid Summer Internship Program in autonomy and robotics engineering. The 12-week onsite internship is designed for highly motivated students or recent graduates, with projects on autonomous behaviors, machine perception, and robotic control systems for UAS.

Applicants should be pursuing a technical degree with GPAs around 3.0, and relocation/housing stipends may be available. You will work closely with senior engineers in a fast-paced R&D environment.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in a technical field such as CS, aerospace, electrical engineering or robotics.
• Coursework or project experience in robotics, autonomy or computer vision is required.
• Proficiency with C/C++ (C++11+ preferred) and familiarity with Python and MATLAB for data analysis.
• Interest in UAS, robotics or autonomous systems and strong problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist design, implementation and testing of algorithms for computer vision, tracking and target detection.
• Support GNC integration with visual sensors and state estimation using inertial/visual data.
• Contribute to autonomous behavior modeling, path planning and multi-vehicle coordination.
• Collaborate on simulation platforms and real hardware, participate in reviews and documentation.
