Job summary

AeroVironment's Summer Internship Program is an on-site 12-week opportunity for students or recent graduates to work on autonomy, perception, and robotic control systems for UAS. You will contribute to algorithm development, simulation, and hardware integration in a fast-paced R&D environment, with mentorship from senior engineers.

The role emphasizes hands-on projects, cross-team collaboration, and real-world problem solving in a premier defense tech setting.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical field such as CS, aerospace, EE or robotics.
• Coursework or project experience in robotics, autonomy or computer vision.
• Proficiency in C/C++ (modern standards) and Python/MATLAB for data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and test algorithms for vision, tracking, and target detection.
• Develop GNC with visual sensors and state estimation using inertial/visual data.
• Model autonomous behavior and plan paths for multi-vehicle coordination.
• Support autonomy software on simulation platforms and real hardware.
• Collaborate on testing, data collection, and experiment design.
