Job summary

AeroVironment, Inc. offers a paid Summer Internship Program in California focused on autonomy and robotics for unmanned systems. Interns work with AV teams on meaningful projects, gaining experience in algorithm development, simulation, and real hardware within a fast-paced R&D environment.

Selected students will collaborate with senior engineers, develop professional skills, and build potential careers in aerospace and defense. Relocation or housing support may be considered based on team needs.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Aerospace, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related technical field.
• Coursework or project experience in robotics, autonomy, or computer vision.
• Proficiency in C/C++ (C++11 or later preferred).
• Familiarity with Python and/or MATLAB for data analysis or prototyping.

Responsibilities

• Assist in designing, implementing, and testing algorithms for computer vision, tracking, and target detection.
• Support GNC integration with visual sensors and state estimation using inertial/visual data.
• Contribute to autonomous behavior modeling and path planning.
• Collaborate on simulation and hardware testing, data collection, and experimental design.
• Participate in code reviews and cross-team integration efforts.
• Document findings and present results in internal reports.
