Job summary

The Applied Research Laboratory at the Penn State University in State College, PA, seeks a Robotics Engineer to advance autonomy for unmanned underwater vehicles (UxVs) within the SSW domain. You will develop and test software, integrate subsystems, and drive prototype capabilities to Navy sponsors.

You will collaborate with software, systems, and hardware teams, perform SIL/HIL testing, and support field trials while traveling to remote locations and complying with DoD guidelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Science required.
• 5+ years of relevant engineering/software experience.
• Known proficiency with DoD-grade software processes and security culture.

Responsibilities

• Develop and contribute to software for autonomy in UxVs.
• Conduct SIL/HIL testing and field testing of prototype systems.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across software, hardware, and sensors.
• Support integration of autonomy with payloads and communications systems.
• Lead analytical studies and simulation to validate concepts.
