Job summary

Penn State University is seeking a Systems & Robotics Engineer to join the ARL/Applied Research Laboratory in State College, PA. The role focuses on autonomy, underwater robotics, and prototype integration to transition technologies to Navy sponsors.

The position requires on-site work with periodic travel to remote locations and offers opportunities to mentor junior engineers while advancing mission-critical autonomy systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or science required.
• Experience with complex hardware/software systems and MBSE is preferred.
• Active security clearance at Secret level or higher is required.

Responsibilities

• Develop and integrate autonomy architectures for UxVs; design and test SSW payloads, sensors, and navigation.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on undersea navigation, endurance, and communications.
• Build prototype architectures using SIL/HIL and test unmanned platforms in maritime conditions.
• Interact regularly with software teams, project leads, and collaborators.
