Job summary

Blue Origin Honeybee Robotics is seeking a rover autonomy lead to implement onboard perception and navigation to map terrain and avoid hazards in real time. You will own this capability from concept through field testing and flight operations, collaborating with scientists and engineers to deliver robust autonomous systems.

The role requires 10+ years in embedded software, C/C++, sensor drivers, testing frameworks, and experience in safety-critical aerospace software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
• Experience >10 years in software development for embedded platforms.
• Proficient in baremetal C/C++ development.
• Background in spaceflight avionics applications.
• Experience with testing frameworks and unit tests.
• Experience writing drivers for sensors.
• Understanding of electromechanical systems and actuators.
• Experience with autonomous safety‑critical fault recovery.

Responsibilities

• Lead coding, testing and validation of vehicle control software.
• Manage software field deployments and provide on-site and remote support.
• Derive and own software system requirements and schedules.
• Identify system design improvements with emphasis on robust autonomy.
• Collaborate with scientists and management to drive product development from concept to production.
• Write requirements and specification documents.
