Job summary

Blue Origin in Southern California is seeking a rover autonomy lead to own an onboard perception and navigation system for lunar rovers CP-21/CT-4. You will map terrain, avoid hazards in real time, and drive development from concept to field tests and flight operations.

You will collaborate with scientists, engineers, PMs and program management to deliver robust autonomous capabilities for NASA missions, and you will apply extensive experience in embedded software, C/C++, spaceflight avionics,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
• 10+ years of hands-on software development for embedded platforms.
• Experience with C/C++ baremetal development and spaceflight avionics.
• Experience with testing frameworks and unit tests.
• Writing drivers for sensors and familiarity with electronics.
• Autonomy and fault recovery in safety-critical systems.
• Software architectures for critical systems.
• Git version control experience.
• Knowledge of Ethernet, USB, CAN, SPI, I2C and other protocols.
• Automated testing methodologies and CI practices.
• Circuit reading and basic hardware debugging.

Responsibilities

• Lead coding, testing and validation of vehicle control software.
• Manage software field deployments and remote support.
• Derive and own software system requirements and schedules.
• Evaluate design improvements for robust autonomy.
• Collaborate across scientists, engineering, PM and program management.
