Job summary

AeroVironment is seeking a motivated GNC/Autonomy Engineering Intern to join our multidisciplinary team in Simi Valley, CA. This 12-week, onsite program offers hands-on experience in GN&C, flight testing, software and hardware development, under the guidance of experienced engineers.

Eligible students (or recent grads) with a 3.0+ GPA and interest in aerospace engineering will gain exposure to flight control systems, testing procedures, and system integration in a fast-paced R&D environment.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in a relevant field (Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, CS)
• GPA 3.0+; junior or above preferred
• Strong interest in GN&C and aerospace engineering
• Basic MATLAB/Simulink proficiency is a plus
• Willingness to travel domestically (up to 10–20%)
• Eligible to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Assist in GN&C system design and development for aircraft projects
• Support system testing, including SIL/HIL environments and flight test prep
• Help implement and test basic flight control algorithms under supervision
• Participate in subsystem integration and data analysis
• Support engineering documentation and report writing
• Collaborate with engineering and test teams to troubleshoot solutions
• Learn engineering tools and processes for flight systems
• Perform additional duties as needed
