Job summary

Torc Robotics is seeking an Autonomy Data Engineer Level 2 to design, build, and operate data infrastructure powering our autonomy program. You will create end-to-end pipelines that transform raw vehicle logs into curated datasets for perception, planning, and simulation teams.

You’ll own data lake design, validation, and visualization tooling, ensuring high reliability across large-scale sensor data and model training workflows. This is a high-ownership role on a lean team in the US.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field with 4+ years of data engineering experience or a Master’s with 2+ years.
• Strong proficiency in Python and SQL, with ability to build production-grade data pipelines.
• Experience with cloud data infrastructure (AWS) and infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Solid understanding of data partitioning strategies and columnar formats (Parquet, ORC).
• Experience processing time-series and binary data in data pipelines.
• Proven ability to integrate open-source tooling when appropriate.
• Focus on data quality, monitoring, validation and lineage.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and operate data lakes and ingestion pipelines for high-bandwidth sensor data.
• Define schema, partitioning, and metadata indexing for scalable data storage.
• Implement data validation and integrity checks before downstream processing.
• Create retention, tiering and lifecycle policies to balance cost and value.
• Build tooling to curate training and evaluation datasets from raw logs.
• Automate pseudo-labeling workflows at data ingest scale.
• Develop data visualization tooling for log review and QA workflows.
• Collaborate with engineers to surface datasets and model results to the data lake.
