Job summary

Aurora is hiring a CDL-A driver for its Autonomous Vehicle testing team in Houston, TX. You will operate Class 8 trucks with self-driving tech to map, test, and build the future of transportation. This role involves up to 90% travel and a PM shift, Thursday through Monday at the Houston terminal.

Responsibilities include strict safety adherence, data collection, and collaboration with engineers. Requires 3+ years trucking, DOT compliance, and strong problem solving and communication.

Qualifications

• Interstate Class-A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
• Valid U.S. Driver’s License.
• Must pass DOT physical and meet all DOT qualification standards.
• Must pass pre-employment, post-incident, and randomized drug testing per FMCSA requirements.
• Driving record must pass MVR guidelines.
• Is at least 25 years of age.
• Minimum 3 years of experience driving trucks commercially.
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude for basic troubleshooting and maintenance of vehicle systems.
• Proficiency with Google Docs/Slides/Sheets and Jira for ticket tracking.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for technical reporting and collaboration.
• Ability to use laptops/tablets to launch test missions and log data.
• Willingness to travel up to 90% and work rotating shifts.

Responsibilities

• Strictly adhere to safety protocols and DOT regulations while representing the company.
• Operate the truck following technical driving protocols to collect data for engineering teams.
• Work as a two-person team, sit in passenger seat, manage mission software, troubleshoot equipment, monitor data feeds.
• Execute test missions to evaluate software changes on public roads and closed courses.
• Perform Pre-Trips to verify sensor calibrations and update software for missions.
• Use onboard digital tools to flag or tag road events for later review by engineers.
• Troubleshoot by restarting software modules or checking sensor connections with remote guidance.
