Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Software Engineer for the HIL Platform and Services team in Sunnyvale, CA. You will contribute to high-fidelity validation platforms that test AV software against real hardware interfaces and scenarios.

This early-career role pairs you with experienced engineers to ramp up on AV software, HIL concepts, and internal platforms, with a hybrid work model and relocation support if needed.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science or related field completed before joining GM.
• Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, OS or computer architecture.
• Proficient in Python and/or C++ with coursework, internships, or projects.
• Experience in Linux environments and collaborative, cross-functional work.
• Exposure to hardware-in-the-loop, robotics, or real-time systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop software to enhance the capabilities and scale of the HIL platform.
• Build and extend services and tools for configuring, running, and debugging HIL tests.
• Deliver reliable software via CI, automated tests, and code reviews.
• Collaborate with AV teams to translate validation needs into platform features.
• Drive complex projects with incremental development and quality focus.
