Job summary

Fathom Robotics in Ventura, CA is seeking a USV Marine Diesel Mechanic/Technician to maintain and troubleshoot uncrewed surface vessels supporting government and commercial defense programs. You will keep vehicles field-ready: engines, hulls, propulsion, and electromechanical systems.

Responsibilities include preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, pre/post-mission inspections, launch/recovery support, and on-water diagnostics.

Qualifications

• 3+ years hands-on mechanical maintenance experience in marine, automotive, or related field.
• Experience with engines, hydraulics, and electrical troubleshooting in maritime environments.
• Comfortable working on water and outdoors in field conditions.
• Proficiency with hand and power tools; able to lift 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on USV propulsion, hull, and mechanical systems.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults in shop and field.
• Conduct pre-mission and post-mission inspections and maintenance checks.
• Support vehicle launch and recovery operations from boats and shore platforms.
• Diagnose and resolve issues in real time during on-water test events and demos.
• Maintain parts inventory, tooling, and shop consumables.
• Document maintenance actions and repairs in logs.
• Assist with transport and staging of vehicles to test sites.
