Job summary

Forterra is seeking a Field Service Engineer to deliver advanced technical support for hardware and software in field environments, including possible active combat zones. You will diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex issues, provide on-site and remote support, and serve as a technical escalation point for customers on software and networking topics.

The role emphasizes root cause analysis, system integration, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• B.S. in computer science, engineering, robotics, or related field.
• 5+ years of relevant field service experience.
• Proficiency in Linux, networking, and software troubleshooting.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.
• Ability to travel up to 75%, including international.

Responsibilities

• Monitor customer system performance and identify issues across hardware and software.
• Provide on-site and remote support to diagnose and resolve complex system issues, minimizing downtime.
• Serve as primary technical escalation point for software and networking issues.
• Diagnose and resolve issues across systems, networking, and software.
• Perform log analysis, system health checks, and root cause investigations.
• Support system installations, upgrades, patches, and configuration changes in field environments.
• Troubleshoot connectivity issues and system integrations.
• Assist in deploying and validating software updates, ensuring system stability.
• Support command-line operations, scripting, and Linux configuration.
• Maintain detailed service records, field reports, and work orders.
• Communicate updates to stakeholders and ensure proper handoff to engineering.
