Job summary

Leidos is seeking an Autonomous Simulation Software Engineer to build the software and simulation infrastructure behind next-generation uncrewed underwater vehicles and maritime autonomous systems.

You will develop high-fidelity simulators, model vehicles, sensors, environments, and interfaces; expand the MAGMA-based Simulation Framework; and collaborate with autonomy and test teams to accelerate development and reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/Software Engineering/Robotics/Engineering with 8–12 years of experience, or a Master's with 6–10 years of experience.
• Active Secret clearance.
• Strong C++ skills on Linux with solid software architecture, performance, memory management, debugging, and code quality.
• Experience in simulation software for complex physical or cyber-physical systems.

Responsibilities

• Build high-fidelity simulation software for autonomous vehicles, sensors, environments, interfaces, and mission behavior.
• Expand and evolve MAGMA-based Simulation Framework with reusable components, interfaces, models, tooling and patterns.
• Increase simulation fidelity by coordinating with autonomy, systems, hardware, and test engineers.
• Model complex systems and behaviors translating vehicle characteristics, sensor behavior, environmental effects, interfaces, and constraints into software models.
• Enable autonomy development and test with repeated simulations across nominal and failure scenarios.
• Architect modular, scalable simulation infrastructure across platforms and fidelity levels.
• Connect simulation to production software by integrating components with real autonomy and mission software.
• Build tools for scenario generation, instrumentation, data collection, playback, debugging, visualization, and automated execution.
• Validate simulations against reality using data and engineering analysis to understand fidelity and limitations.
• Ship production-quality simulation software with end-to-end ownership from architecture to use.
• Collaborate across disciplines in design reviews and trade studies.
