Job summary
Leidos is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join our team in Arlington, VA, developing unmanned and autonomous maritime software for the US Government. You will be embedded within an Agile Scrum team, designing, building, and validating software that supports critical national programs from concept through deployment.
You will lead technical work on features, mentor junior engineers, perform peer reviews, and drive continuous improvement of development practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in CS or STEM with 12+ years of software experience, or 10+ years with a Master’s.
- Proficiency in C++ and Linux.
- Strong knowledge of data structures.
- Experience with source control and configuration management tools.
- Ability to guide and coach other developers.
- Eligibility to obtain Secret Security Clearance.
Responsibilities
- Analyze, design, code, and update software for new features and performance.
- Lead small projects and ensure technical quality.
- Mentor junior engineers and foster growth.
- Perform peer reviews and ensure maintainability.
- Drive process improvements and optimize workflows.
- Coordinate with clients and stakeholders on progress, risks, and solutions.
- Travel up to 25% for field testing and engagements.
