Job summary

DoorDash Labs seeks a Hardware Integration Engineer to lead the build, test, and maintenance of autonomous robotic systems. You will work with hardware/software engineers to improve safety and utilization across vehicle platforms, developing proofs-of-concept and validation test benches.

Ideal candidates have 4+ years in autonomous hardware, with hands-on experience with LiDAR, RADAR, GPS, cameras, schematics, and CAD. Strong shop skills and a passion for robotics are essential.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 4+ years in autonomous hardware/software systems.
• Hands-on with AV components: LiDAR, RADAR, GPS, cameras.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and datasheets.
• Experience soldering, crimping, and cable management in lab/shop.
• Familiar with CNC, machining, welding, 3D printing.
• CAD modeling in 3D (SolidWorks/Onshape/etc).
• Knowledge of Python, ROS, Linux; MCU/MPU programming helpful.

Responsibilities

• Lead vehicle integration and testing for autonomous systems.
• Design, prototype, and install proof-of-concept sensors and systems.
• Guide vehicle lifecycle from build to shakedown testing.
• Build test benches for mechanical, electrical, embedded, and software subsystems.
• Document assembly procedures and integration steps.
• Perform root-cause analysis to minimize downtime.
• Scale provisioning and validation for expanding fleets.
• Collaborate across teams to meet project requirements.
• Address evolving technical challenges with safety focus.
