Job summary

Uber seeks a technical lead to evaluate the safety and maturity of Autonomous Vehicle partners launching on the Uber platform. You will conduct rigorous safety due diligence, acting as the bridge between Uber and partners, handling complex engineering and high-stakes communications.

You will define evaluation rubrics, lead partner integrations, and author Safety Risk Assessments, while aligning with regulatory requirements and safety standards.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in systems engineering with focus on complex hardware/software integrations.
• Experience in Autonomous Vehicle safety-critical systems.
• Experience with V&V methodologies and AV industry standards (ISO 26262, SOTIF/ISO 21448).
• Experience performing Safety Risk Assessments (SRA) or similar technical due diligence.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with external technical relationships.

Responsibilities

• Determine Partner Assessment Criteria: Define rubrics and safety benchmarks for AV stacks.
• Partner Integration Leadership: Coordinate with external and internal engineering teams.
• Safety Risk Assessments (SRAs): Author comprehensive SRAs with clear feedback for partners and leadership.
• Regulatory compliance & system impact: Translate regulatory requirements into engineering solutions and assess impacts on vehicles.
• Process Improvement: Evolve onboarding and assessment frameworks and improve V&V pipeline.
• Strategic Communication: Serve as the face of Uber’s safety engineering team to external partners.
• Apply AI responsibly: Evaluate AI/ML approaches for safety validation with traceability and oversight.
