Job summary

Uber is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer for the Autonomous Mobility & Delivery (AM&D) group to shape the safety of autonomous transportation. You will drive safety across Uber’s AV platform, integrating with partner systems and developing internal autonomous offerings.

This role sits on Uber’s AM&D Safety team and reports to the Senior Manager, Systems Engineering. Ideal candidates have a strong background in complex hardware/software integration, safety-critical systems, and experience with

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering field.
7+ years of systems engineering with a focus on hardware/software integrations.
Proven track record in autonomous vehicle safety-critical systems.
Experience with V&V methodologies (ISO 26262, SOTIF/ISO 21448).

Responsibilities

Define partner-agnostic safety solutions and frameworks for AV tech providers and fleet operators on the Uber platform.
Define safety requirements for Uber-built autonomous offerings.
Develop V&V strategies for internal and external AV integrations to meet Uber’s safety bar.
Lead safety risk assessments for AV partner integrations.
Influence long-term product roadmaps and strategic partnerships prioritizing safety and feasibility.
Apply AI/ML approaches to safety validation with oversight and traceability.
