Job summary

Pep Boys Gastonia is seeking a skilled Technician to inspect, diagnose and repair tire and automotive services while delivering outstanding customer experience. You will train and mentor teammates and maintain a clean, safe shop environment.

You should have 1+ year of automotive diagnosis/repair experience, ASE certifications preferred, and a valid driver's license. Availability for days, nights, holidays, and weekends is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• At least 1 year of strong automotive mechanical diagnosis, problem-solving and repair experience.
• 2 or more ASE certifications preferred (A4 Steering and Suspension & A5 Brakes)
• Section 609 certification preferred
• State Inspection license if applicable
• Must have a valid driver's license
• Successful completion of pre-employment background check
• Availability to work days, nights, holidays, and weekends as needed

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair to specifications including brake, hydraulic, exhaust, basic electrical, cooling system, suspension and alignment.
• Perform job duties of all lower job descriptions (Mechanic and General Service Technician).
• Explain technical diagnoses and needed repairs to non-mechanical individuals on an as-required basis.
• Continuously learn new technical information and techniques in formal training sessions.
• Assist fellow technicians in performing technical activities.
• Keep store management aware of mechanical repair problems as they occur.
• Maintain an organized and neat shop.
• Adhere to all company policies, procedures, safety and environmental rules.
