Job summary

Pep Boys Inc. is seeking a skilled Automotive Technician to inspect, diagnose, and repair tire and automotive services while delivering excellent customer experience.

You will explain diagnoses and needed repairs to customers and coworkers and stay updated with evolving automotive technology. You will train and mentor teammates, maintain a clean, safe shop, work on brakes, hydraulics, electrical, cooling, suspension and alignment tasks, and adhere to company policies.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED.
• At least 1 year of automotive diagnostic/repair experience.
• ASE certifications (A4 Steering and Suspension, A5 Brakes) preferred.
• Section 609 certification preferred.
• State inspection license preferred where applicable.
• Must have valid driver’s license.
• Background check required before employment.
• Must be available to work days, nights, holidays and weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair to specifications – brake, hydraulic, exhaust, electrical, cooling, suspension and alignment; perform all maintenance services.
• Perform duties of all lower job descriptions (Mechanic and General Service Technician).
• Explain diagnoses and repairs to non-mechanical customers and colleagues as needed.
• Continuously learn new automotive techniques and stay updated with technology.
• Assist other technicians in performing tasks.
• Keep store management informed of mechanical issues as they occur.
• Maintain organized and clean work area and adhere to safety rules.
• Adhere to all company policies, procedures, safety and environmental rules.

Skills

Automotive diagnosis experience

ASE certifications (A4/A5)
