Job summary

Pep Boys is seeking a skilled Automotive Technician to inspect, diagnose and repair tire and automotive services while delivering excellent customer experiences. You will explain diagnoses to customers and coworkers and stay updated with evolving vehicle technology.

The role covers diagnosing and repairing brakes, exhaust, electrical, cooling, suspension and alignment, and performing maintenance. You will train others, keep the shop clean, and follow safety rules.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• At least 1 year automotive mechanical diagnosis, problem-solving and repair experience.
• 2+ ASE certifications preferred (A4 Steering and Suspension, A5 Brakes).
• Section 609 certification preferred.
• State Inspection license if applicable.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Successful completion of pre-employment background check.
• Availability to work days, nights, holidays, and weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair to specifications — brake and hydraulic, exhaust, basic electrical, cooling system, suspension and alignment; perform maintenance services.
• Perform duties of all lower job descriptions (Mechanic and General Service Technician).
• Explain technical diagnoses and needed repairs to non-mechanical individuals (employees/customers).
• Continuously learn new technical information and techniques in training sessions.
• Assist fellow technicians in performing technical activities.
• Keep store management aware of repair problems as they occur.
• Maintain an organized and neat shop.
• Adhere to company policies, safety and environmental rules.
