Job summary

Pep Boys is hiring for a store/service desk role in Illinois. You will engage customers, provide expert product and service knowledge, schedule appointments, and drive sales at the service desk, on the floor, and at the register.

The position requires basic math for commissions, a high school diploma, and at least one year of automotive service experience, with sales experience preferred. Local shop safety and customer care standards apply.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One year of related experience in automotive service.
• One year of sales experience preferred.
• Basic math skills for commissions and discounts.

Responsibilities

• Serve as first point of contact for customers in-store and by phone, scheduling appointments, and selling parts and services.
• Organize and process service work orders and cash register transactions to support service goals.
• Assist management with customer care, work orders, and store operations, including opening/closing where applicable.
• Follow cash, credit, and return policies and address customer service issues.
• Conduct express automotive services, oil changes, fluid checks, and basic car maintenance per SOP.
• Enforce safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized shop.
• Communicate clearly with associates, management, and customers.
