Job summary

Pep Boys in California is seeking a customer-focused Service Desk Associate who will engage customers, schedule appointments, and sell parts and services to keep vehicles running at peak efficiency. You will handle transactions at the service desk and register, assist with vehicle inspections, and support management with safety and customer care initiatives.

A high school diploma and a valid driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid Driver's License.
• One year of related experience in the automotive service environment.
• One year of sales experience preferred.
• Must have basic knowledge and understanding of mathematical concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, and fractions. Ability to apply mathematical formulas to calculate commissions and discounts.
• Strong verbal communication skills.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Ability to work Days, Nights, Weekends, Holidays.

Responsibilities

• First point of contact for customers on the phone and in the store. Engage customers, schedule appointments, build trust, understand needs, and sell parts and service.
• Organize and manage the service business through work order and register transactions, vehicle inspections, and knowledge of parts and services.
• Assist in various aspects of customer care, work order/register support, facility maintenance, and Outside Purchase ordering.
• Follow policies on cash, credit, check, refunds and returns; work with management on customer service issues and opportunities.
• Conduct express automotive services such as tire mounting/balancing, oil changes, filter replacements, battery testing, and vehicle inspections.
• Champion safety procedures and ensure procedures are followed during services.
• Collaborate with management to maintain a safe/healthy work environment per laws and policies.
• Communicate effectively with associates, management, and customers.
