Job summary

General Motors seeks a General Supervisor to lead daily warehouse operations, oversee salaried and hourly UAW staff, and ensure timely fulfillment of parts orders. You will optimize workflows, enforce standardized work, and drive continuous improvements in a fast-paced environment.

The role emphasizes safety, cost control, and collaboration with vendors while maintaining high productivity and quality across shipping, receiving, and inventory control functions.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience supervising employees in a manufacturing, warehouse, or logistics environment.
• 2+ years experience managing a team.
• Analytical and technical computer skills to develop, maintain, and analyze data.
• Proficiency with storage, retrieval, inventory, and warehouse management software and systems, including Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to work onsite on any shift as required by the business.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and optimize warehouse workflows to support timely shipment of customer orders.
• Diagnose operational issues by identifying gaps, determining root causes, and implementing corrective adjustments.
• Allocate resources and set direction to address department constraints and achieve shift objectives.
• Lead, train, and evaluate supervisors and support staff.
• Build effective working relationships across salaried and hourly UAW employees.
• Enforce consistent use of standardized work, processes, tools, and systems.
• Ensure compliance with industry requirements and safety regulations, including the Workplace Safety System (WSS).
• Conduct safety audits and training, and promptly address safety concerns and incidents.
• Implement department- and site-wide continuous improvement activities, including Global Manufacturing Systems (GMS).
• Collaborate with support functions, vendors, and suppliers to troubleshoot issues and improve operational efficiency.
