Job summary

Jobtailor seeks a mobile GPS/telematics installation technician to serve customers across California, performing installations on trucks and fleet assets with a strong emphasis on safety and quality. You will read wiring diagrams, use hand and power tools, and document work while providing excellent customer service.

The role requires 21+ years old, a valid license, and the ability to travel to customer sites, including lifting up to 50 lbs and working around vehicles.

Qualifications

Hands-on automotive, electrical, mechanical, or installation experience
Knowledge of vehicle electrical systems and basic diagnostics
Comfortable using hand and power tools
Ability to read basic wiring diagrams and technical instructions
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Comfortable working independently in a mobile environment

Valid driver's license and clean driving record
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in, around, and underneath vehicles and trailers
21+ years of age
Telematics/GPS/ELD installation experience preferred
Experience with Samsara, Geotab, Motive, Verizon Connect, Lytx, or similar platforms preferred
12V/24V electrical experience preferred
Commercial truck or trailer experience preferred
ADAS scanning or calibration experience preferred
ASE, I-CAR, or related certifications preferred
Must be eligible to work in the U.S. with no restrictions

Job description

Install and troubleshoot GPS, ELDs, telematics, dash cameras, sensors, and tracking equipment
Work on light-duty vehicles, commercial trucks, tractors, trailers, and other fleet assets
Perform basic 12V/24V wiring, including power, ignition, ground, diagnostic, and trailer connections
Route and secure wiring for clean, professional installations
Test GPS, cellular connectivity, cameras, sensors, and system functionality
Diagnose electrical, connectivity, and installation issues
Document completed installations with photos, device information, and service notes
Travel to customer and fleet locations for mobile installations and projects
Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, and right-first-time installations

Requirements
