Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a mobile installation specialist to install and troubleshoot GPS, ELDs, telematics, cameras, and sensors on a range of fleet assets. You will perform wiring, testing, documentation, and travel to customer sites, maintaining safety and quality in a fast-paced mobile environment.

Ideal candidates bring hands-on automotive/electrical experience, knowledge of vehicle electrical systems, and strong problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

Hands-on automotive, electrical, mechanical, or installation experience.
Knowledge of vehicle electrical systems and basic diagnostics.
Comfortable using hand and power tools.
Ability to read wiring diagrams and technical instructions.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Comfortable working independently in a mobile environment.
Strong attention to detail and pride in quality work.
Professional communication and customer service skills.
Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Able to lift up to 50 lbs and work around vehicles and trailers.
Must be 21+ years old.
Telematics/GPS/ELD installation experience is nice to have.
Experience with Samsara, Geotab, Motive, Verizon Connect, Lytx, or similar platforms is nice to have.
12V/24V electrical experience is nice to have.
Commercial truck or trailer experience is nice to have.
ADAS scanning or calibration experience is nice to have.
ASE, I-CAR, or related certifications are nice to have.
Must be eligible to work in the U.S. with no restrictions.

Responsibilities

Install and troubleshoot GPS, ELDs, telematics, dash cameras, sensors, and tracking equipment.
Work on light-duty vehicles, commercial trucks, tractors, trailers, and other fleet assets.
Perform basic 12V/24V wiring, including power, ignition, ground, diagnostic, and trailer connections.
Route and secure wiring for clean, professional installations.
Test GPS, cellular connectivity, cameras, sensors, and system functionality.
Diagnose electrical, connectivity, and installation issues.
Document completed installations with photos, device information, and service notes.
Travel to customer and fleet locations for mobile installations and projects.
Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, and right-first-time installations.
Provide top-tier service to customers while supporting fleet technology that keeps vehicles safe, connected, and on the road.
