Florida Department of Transportation is seeking an Automotive Equipment Mechanic II for the Heartland Operations Center in Zolfo Springs, FL. The incumbent will diagnose, repair and maintain gasoline and diesel engines, transmissions and heavy equipment, while managing parts, invoices and work orders.

The role requires a Class E license with CDL by 10 months, strong mechanical skills, and the ability to work emergencies and supervise inmate crews; health benefits and retirement are part of the

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with 2 years of mechanic experience; or 3 years with no diploma.
• Valid Class E driver license; within 60 days obtain Class B CDL Instructional Permit and within 10 months obtain CDL with air brakes.
• Must meet safety, drug testing, and driving history requirements.

Responsabilités

• Diagnose, repair, overhaul and replace gasoline or diesel engines, transmissions, brakes and electrical systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance on vehicles, trucks, and heavy equipment.
• Process invoices, order parts, and maintain work orders; track time charged to activities.
• Respond to emergency road service calls and perform minor repairs.
• Instruct other mechanics and supervise inmate maintenance crew.
