Job summary

The Florida Department of Transportation seeks an Automotive Equipment Mechanic II for District 6 North Dade Shop. You will diagnose, repair, overhaul and replace components in automobiles, trucks and heavy equipment, and perform tire services and preventive maintenance.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED, a Class E license with a CDL-B within 10 months, and the ability to respond to emergencies. Salary range is $47,066.46 - $60,909.54 annually, with CAD add-on.

Qualifications

• Possess a High School Diploma or Certificate of High School Equivalency.
• Two years of mechanic experience required; CDL-B within 10 months.
• Valid Class E driver license with CDL-B and air brakes within 10 months.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, overhaul and replace engines, transmissions, brakes and electrical systems.
• Field test vehicles and equipment; repair and balance tires on automotive and heavy equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance and assist in emergencies or on-call work.
