Job summary
Florida Department of Transportation seeks an Automotive Equipment Mechanic II for District 6 North Dade Shop in North Miami Beach, FL. You will diagnose, repair, overhaul and replace engines, transmissions, brakes and other systems in automotive and heavy equipment, and perform field tests to ensure repairs meet standards.
The role requires maintaining equipment, performing preventative maintenance and assisting in parts requests.
Qualifications
- Possess a High School Diploma or Certificate of High School Equivalency.
- Two years of mechanic experience in passenger vehicle and heavy equipment repair and maintenance; extra year allowed as substitute for diploma.
- Must have valid Class E driver’s license; CDL with air brakes within 10 months.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair, overhaul and replace gasoline or diesel engines, transmissions, clutches, brakes, electrical and hydraulic systems in automobiles, trucks and heavy equipment.
- Field test vehicles and equipment to verify repairs.
- Repair, change and balance tires on automotive and heavy equipment.
- Perform preventative maintenance and seasonal equipment preparation.
- Assist in maintaining appropriate documentation and safety compliance.
