Florida Department of Transportation is seeking an Automotive Equipment Mechanic II for District 6 North Dade Shop. You will diagnose, repair, and overhaul gasoline and diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems in a range of vehicles and equipment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and 2–3 years of mechanic experience.
• Valid Class E license and CDL Class B with air brakes within 10 months of appointment.
• Willing to be on-call for emergencies and demonstrate a safe driving record.

Responsabilités

• Diagnose, repair, overhaul and replace gasoline/diesel engines and major components in vehicles and heavy equipment.
• Test, verify repairs and perform preventive maintenance and seasonal servicing.
• Submit parts requests and track time charged on work orders; maintain documentation.
• Respond to emergencies, perform minor welding and body repairs, and supervise junior staff if needed.
