Job summary

The City of Zephyrhills is seeking a skilled mechanic to perform diagnostics and repairs on a range of vehicles and equipment. A High School Diploma or GED plus 3 years of journey-level experience is required, with a State of Florida CDL Class B (airbrake) and ASE Brake Certification preferred.

The role involves on-call duties and maintaining preventive maintenance records in a municipal setting with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with 3 years of journey-level repair experience on diesel/gasoline engines.
• Experience maintaining heavy-duty trucks and hydraulic equipment.
• Ability to perform mechanical, electrical and hydraulic diagnostics and repairs.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine to complex mechanical, electrical and hydraulic diagnostics and repairs on all types of vehicles and equipment.
• Use specialized tools for welding and fabrication.
• Maintain preventative maintenance program and complete reports and administrative records.
• Complete computerized work orders detailing service repair and maintain inventory.
• Respond to road-service calls; participate in rotating on-call schedule.
