Job summary

GM is seeking an experienced electrical hardware design engineer to guide embedded and power electronics modules across Detroit and the Bay Area. You will collaborate with software, mechanical, and manufacturing teams to ensure robust designs and embed critical hardware features.

Lead schematic development, PCB layout, and worst-case analyses while supporting DFMEA/PFMEA activities. This role emphasizes hands-on testing and cross-functional leadership in build-to-print processes.

Qualifications

• Professional experience creating digital/analog hardware interfaces, including schematic creation and PCB layout.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in automotive hardware electronics design.
• Knowledge of hardware tools including oscilloscopes, function generators, and soldering equipment.

Responsibilities

• Support a team of electrical hardware designers through technical direction and task execution.
• Collaborate with software, mechanical, and manufacturing teams to integrate designs.
• Contribute to embedded designs for advanced module architectures.
• Lead or support IC design and development strategies.
• Lead electrical schematic development and support PCB layout.
• Assess hardware design feasibility across cost, performance, reliability, timing, and manufacturability.
• Support DFMEA and PFMEA activities and associated risk reduction.
• Lead bench-level testing, waveform acquisition, and hardware stress tests.
