Job summary

General Motors seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the in‑house development of ECUs for the next‑generation SDV architecture. You will own mechanical design, development, and review of electrical controllers, collaborating with internal and external customers to drive successful program launches.

You will design components such as castings, moldings, and PCBA mounts, perform GD&T analysis, and work with electrical engineers to integrate subsystems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent engineering degree.
• Analytical skills and fundamentals in solid mechanics, material science, heat transfer, mechanism design, and manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Execute mechanical design of ECUs per program timing, leading to successful launch of the product.
• Design mechanical components including castings, injection moldings, stampings, seals, electrical interface, PCBA mounts, connector interface and fastening, etc.
• Perform design calculations, GD&T and tolerance stacks.
• Create 3D CAD, 2D CAD & lead CAD reviews with stakeholders.
• Develop analysis and test plan for new design, perform proof of concept tests and analysis.
• Lead prototyping and testing, analyze test data, and make necessary adjustments to mechanical designs.
• Work with electrical engineers and PCBA designers to integrate components into electro-mechanical systems.
