Job summary

General Motors seeks a student engineer in Michigan to join the Vehicle Software and Electronics Engineering organization, supporting design, integration, validation, and launch of electrical controllers, displays, connectivity, compute, and other electro-mechanical systems for electric and internal combustion engine vehicles.

You will collaborate across hardware, software, manufacturing, validation, and supplier teams to develop robust ECU and vehicle hardware; participate in EMC,

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Graduating between December 2026 and June 2027.
  • Must be able to work in Southeast Michigan.
  • Able to work full time, 40 hours per week.

Responsibilities

  • Support design, development, integration, and validation of hardware, including schematics, PCB assemblies, enclosures, and vehicle systems.
  • Develop mechanical components and interfaces such as castings, moldings, stampings, seals, mounts, connectors, and fasteners.
  • Create engineering deliverables, including wiring diagrams, schematics, PCB layouts, BOMs, 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, test procedures, and validation documentation.
  • Apply design calculations, GD&T, tolerance analysis, and design-for-manufacturability principles.
  • Help integrate harnesses, cables, PCB assemblies, connectors, and enclosures into vehicle and electro-mechanical architectures.
