Job summary

Insight Global seeks a Controls Engineer to support advanced manufacturing automation in a high-volume automotive environment. You will program PLC/HMI, integrate FANUC and CRX robots, and develop machine vision solutions for inspection and process control.

You will validate safety, I/O, and networking, support startup and commissioning, and ensure GM GCCS/GCCH compliance while collaborating with maintenance, quality, and manufacturing teams to improve throughput and reliability.

Qualifications

3+ years of experience as a Controls Engineer in automotive/manufacturing environments.
Experience supporting GM facilities or GM standards.
GCCS/GCCH certification and hardware experience.
Strong knowledge of GM controls standards and assembly line automation.
Hands-on programming and troubleshooting of PLC-based systems on the plant floor.
Experience with Siemens Step 7 PLCs and/or Rockwell AB PLCs.
Familiarity with industrial networking protocols.

Responsibilities

Develop, modify, and support PLC and HMI programs for automated equipment.
Program, configure, and optimize FANUC and CRX robots for assembly and material handling.
Design, validate, and integrate machine vision systems for inspection and process control.
Perform sensor, I/O, safety validation, and network troubleshooting.
Support installation, startup, debugging, and commissioning activities.
Ensure automation standards compliance (GM GCCS/GCCH) and customer specs.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and improve performance.
Conduct FATs, SATs, and production readiness reviews.
