Advantage Technical is seeking a Software Engineer - Automotive in Sterling Heights, MI to lead controls improvements on the plant floor and troubleshoot complex issues across machinery and robotics. You will drive plant IT integration and provide hands-on guidance to maintenance crews and electricians, ensuring reliable performance.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of related experience.
• PLC/CNC and controls software experience.
• Strong leadership, teambuilding, and communication skills.
• Ability to work with maintenance and process teams.
• Microsoft Suite familiarity.
• PLC controller experience (Siemens, Rexroth, Allen Bradley).

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement controls improvements using plant monitoring software.
• Lead troubleshooting to find root cause and resolve performance issues.
• Coordinate resources and break problems into action items.
• Train manufacturing personnel and plant electricians.
• Integrate equipment into plant IT platforms and quality tools.
• Troubleshoot machinery, robotics, automation, and downtime issues.
• Review installations; reprogram equipment for engineering changes.
• Maintain backups for automation and robotics installations.
• Participate in equipment safety risk assessments.
