Job summary

Piston Automotive, Kansas City, MO, seeks a Controls Engineer to design, develop, and support production control systems including PLCs, HMIs, and vision systems. You will drive projects from sourcing through SOP, partner with automation vendors, and lead lean improvements to boost efficiency.

Requires 2–4 years PLC programming (AB Micro Logic, SLC 500, ControlLogix), 2–4 years Vision System programming (Cognex, DVT, Keyence), and a 2+ year background in HMI programming.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Programming required.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and calculate machine performance using PLC.
• Plan, coordinate, and implement and track assigned projects.
• Develop and track capital investment budgets for assigned projects.
• Interface with automation and capital equipment vendors for control solutions.
• Provide controls guidance in equipment selection and operations and future expansion.
• Integrate PCs and PLCs (TCP/IP, EthernetIP).
• Support controls related issues to prevent downtime.
• Drive lean concepts (5S, OEE, Kanban, Visual Factory, TPM).
• Collaborate on controls communication, design reviews, and feasibility studies.
