Job summary

First Solar is seeking an entry-level Automation Technician to support manufacturing operations, assist with equipment startup, PLC/HMI programming, and troubleshooting of control systems. The role rotates on AM/PM shifts with a 36/48-hour week, including every other Fri-Sun.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years in manufacturing controls or an related field; degrees are preferred but not required if experience is strong. Training provided on MES integration and safety practices.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of manufacturing equipment electrical/electronic/controls experience.
• Associate/Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Robotics, Industrial Controls, or Electronic Engineering (preferred).
• No Degree - Must have 5+ years verifiable experience in related fields (semiconductors, automotive, etc.).
• Ability to interpret data and troubleshoot; read electrical/mechanical drawings; understand manufacturing safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Support manufacturing facilities, including remote assistance for worldwide sites.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical control systems for equipment.
• Assist with coordination of new equipment installation and MES integration events.
• Maintain and update manufacturing process tool drawings and document equipment changes.
• Implement software changes/upgrades per Controls Engineering; identify and propose improvements.
