Job summary

First Solar Inc. is seeking an entry-level Automation Technician to support manufacturing operations, assist with equipment startup and PLC/HMI programming, and troubleshoot control systems.

The role involves a rotating 36/48-hour schedule on AM/PM crews, including every other Fri-Sun shift, within a solar module manufacturing site. Ideal candidates have 2+ years in electrical/electronic controls, or a related field with 5+ years experience if no degree.

Qualifications

• Associate/Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Robotics, Industrial Controls, or Electronic Engineering (preferred).
• No Degree - Must have 5+ years verifiable experience in a related field (e.g., Semiconductors, Automotive).

Responsibilities

• Support manufacturing facilities and remote operations.
• Troubleshoot, repair and maintain electrical control systems for manufacturing equipment.
• Assist with new equipment installation and MES integration events.
• Maintain and update electrical drawings and track equipment changes.
• Implement software changes/upgrades from Controls Engineering.
• Interface with multiple departments and maintain safe, compliant operations.
