Job summary

First Solar Inc. is seeking an entry-level Automation Technician to support manufacturing operations, assist with equipment implementation, and troubleshoot control systems. You'll rotate among AM/PM shifts on a 36/48-hour weekly schedule, with every-other Friday–Sunday work across shifts.

The role requires electrical/electronic/controls experience, plus degrees or extensive related work; strong skills in AutoCAD, PLC/HMI, and Rockwell platforms will be essential for success.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of manufacturing equipment electrical/electronic/controls experience.
• Associate/Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Robotics, Industrial Controls, or Electronic Engineering (preferred)
• No Degree - Must have 5+ years verifiable experience in a related field, (i.e., Semiconductors, Automotive etc.).

Responsibilities

• Support manufacturing facilities and remote sites.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical control systems.
• Assist with installation and MES integration of new equipment.
• Maintain electrical drawings and track equipment changes.
• Implement software changes/upgrades from Controls Engineering.
• Identify and present solutions to control problems and continuous improvement projects.
• Interface with multiple departments and maintain clear communications.
• Ensure safety procedures and housekeeping standards.
