Job summary

Baker Group is seeking an Automation Engineer in Ankeny, IA to provide start-up, checkout and programming for Building Automation and Control Systems. You will work with design and operation engineers, oversee technicians, and lead projects from commissioning to handover.

The role requires 4–7 years in automation and an associated degree or equivalent experience. Strong PLC/DDC programming, networking, and graphics creation are essential for success in this position.

Qualifications

• Four to seven years of automation-related field experience.
• Associate degree in electronics, technology, or automation or equivalent on‑the‑job experience.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with design/operation engineers, purchasers and staff.
• Start-up and programming of PLC/DDC controllers and sensors.
• Interpret SOO and apply to program logic.
• Read/write ladder logic, structured text, and function block programming.
• Mentor and oversee Automation Technicians I and II.
• Lead medium to large projects and coordinate QA/QC checks.
• Configure networking (IP, subnet, MAC) and debugging of control systems.
• Create graphics, dashboards and supervision graphics for automation systems.
