Job summary

Baker Group in Des Moines, IA, is seeking a skilled Building Automation Technician responsible for start-up, checkout and programming of BAS. You will calibrate sensors, configure BACnet networks, and map control points to graphics and dashboards.

The role requires an Associate degree or equivalent, valid driver’s license, and knowledge of Windows and SQL; onsite work across construction sites with strong teamwork and safety awareness.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree in Electronic, Technology, or Automation related field or equivalent on the job experience.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Start-up of microprocessor-based control components including DDC controllers, sensors, actuators, transducers, and related components.
  • Point-to-point checkout of wiring and components for proper grounding, polarity, communication and power.
  • Set up and calibration of input/output devices such as temperature sensors and pressure transducers.
  • Uploading, downloading, and modification of control software and programs.
  • Perform BACnet networking functions (IP addresses, subnet masks, MAC addresses and instance numbers).
  • Identify and troubleshoot basic HVAC systems.
  • Map control points into supervisory controller and add alarms/history extensions.
  • Map control points into graphical front end and link points to graphics.
