Job summary

Baker Group is seeking an automation technician to support start-up, calibration and programming for building automation systems in active construction environments. The role covers configuring DDC controllers, sensors, and networks, plus creating graphics and dashboards for monitoring and control.

The candidate should have an associate degree in electronics/automation or equivalent experience, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to work independently while following safety and QA/QC

Qualifications

• Associates in electronic/automation field or equivalent on-the-job experience.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to work unsupervised.
• Knowledge of Windows Office applications.
• Knowledge of Ethernet and serial networking formats.
• Understanding of basic process controls (PID loops, motor control).
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
• Construction/industrial environment readiness.

Responsibilities

• Start-up of microprocessor-based control components including DDC controllers and sensors.
• Point-to-point checkout of wiring and components for proper grounding, polarity, communication and power.
• Set up and calibration of input/output devices such as temperature sensors and transducers.
• Uploading, downloading, and modification of control software and programs.
• Perform BACnet networking functions: IP addresses, subnet masks, MAC addresses, instance numbers.
• Identify and troubleshoot basic HVAC systems.
• Map control points into supervisory controller and add alarms/history extensions.
• Map control points into graphical front end and link points to graphics.
• Create Automation System graphics and dashboards.
• Understand construction schedules and manage QA/QC checklists and commissioning logs.
