Job summary

SMC is seeking an Automation Application Specialist in Phoenix to provide expert guidance on industrial automation projects. You will work with clients and internal engineers to design, configure, and optimize solutions, while facilitating training and ensuring regulatory compliance.

You’ll identify customer needs, support major projects, and help expand revenue by presenting technical options and mapping them to product capabilities. This role requires travel and field work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• Advanced industrial automation product experience with SMC or equivalent.
• Experience with or knowledge of competitive products and applications.
• Ability to apply our newest high-tech products effectively.
• Extensive SMC application knowledge or equivalent experience.
• Experience across manufacturing processes such as packaging, electronics, food, chemicals, automotive and medical.
• CRM proficiency and ability to learn new software/tools.
• Fluid Power Pneumatic Specialist Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise to clients implementing automation solutions.
• Identify specifications and regulatory needs at the customer level and relay to engineers.
• Deliver training sessions and workshops to clients' teams on systems use and maintenance.
• Collaborate with clients and internal teams to design, configure, and customize automation solutions.
• Support sales by making technical presentations and participating in major projects.
• Monitor and document sales activity in CRM and manage opportunities.
• Stay informed on industry trends and provide feedback for product improvements.
• Assist with high-level problem solving during implementation and integration.
