Job summary

SMC is seeking an Application Specialist to provide technical expertise and support to clients implementing industrial automation solutions in New Jersey. You will collaborate with customers and internal teams to design, configure, and optimize automation systems.

Travel is required; you will deliver training, demonstrations, and help close major revenue projects while staying current on product advances. Benefits include a company-provided vehicle and a comprehensive package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• Advanced industrial automation product and application experience with SMC or equivalent industry.
• Experience with competitive products and applications.
• Ability to apply and implement our newest “high tech” products.
• Extensive SMC application knowledge or equivalent industry.
• Experience with various manufacturing products and processes (packaging, electronics, food, chemical, automotive, medical).
• Fluid Power Pneumatic Specialist Certification preferred.
• Proficient in CRM and the use of computers; ability to learn new programs and tools.
• Clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Participate in monthly conference calls and share application success stories.
• Identify and close major revenue producing projects.
• Collaborate with clients and internal engineering teams to design, configure, and customize automation solutions.
• Provide continuous training to sales employees, customers and distributors on products and applications.
• Deliver training sessions and workshops on the use and maintenance of automation systems.
• Document and monitor sales activity in SalesConnect and related CRM entries.
• Assist sales with detailed technical presentations and demonstrations to customers.
• Stay abreast of competitive outlook, industry trends, and best practices in industrial automation.
