Job summary

Amgen is seeking an Automation Maintenance Technician (6PM–6AM) in New Albany, OH. You will provide technical engineering support for system optimization, upgrades, and compliance with CFRs and FDA standards in a 24-hour manufacturing environment.

The role requires hands-on maintenance, PLC/HMI diagnostics, and collaboration across engineering, regulatory, quality, and operations. Shift rotations include non-standard hours as the plant scales up operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
• Mechatronics, Computer Science, Electronic Engineering Technology, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering background preferred.
• Experience with PLC, packaging equipment, and inspection systems.
• Experience with SCADA/PLC control systems in Pharmaceutical/Medical Device/Biotech industries.

Responsibilities

• Complete advanced maintenance on complex plant equipment per CFRs and SOPs.
• Use PLC and HMI software to diagnose and troubleshoot automated manufacturing systems.
• Coordinate tech support across engineering, regulatory, calibration, quality, and process automation.
• Assist during regulatory agency inspections and respond to FDA or other agencies.
• Maintain up-to-date spare parts inventory for equipment/systems.
• Evaluate current maintenance procedures and help optimize the program.
• Interpret P&IDs, HVAC/utility plans, and related drawings.
• Support operations on non-standard shifts, including weekends/holidays.
