Modine Manufacturing Company in Jefferson City, MO is offering an Automation Engineering Co‑Op to support plant and corporate manufacturing engineering teams. You will assist with designing, scoping, testing, and implementing automated manufacturing systems, gaining hands‑on experience in machine controls, robotics, and process optimization.

You will work under mentors on active automation projects across facilities, building technical expertise while collaborating with cross‑functional teams

Qualifications

• 0–1 year of engineering‑related experience, including academic projects or prior internship exposure.
• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline
• Foundational understanding of engineering principles related to manufacturing, mechanical design, electronics, or automated systems.
• Familiarity with CAD, PLC basics, robotics concepts, data analysis software, or lab instrumentation.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication with team collaboration ability.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with task management.
• Willingness to learn new technical concepts, automation standards, and lean manufacturing methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Assist with designing, scoping, launching, and validating automated equipment, robotic cells, and manufacturing technology packages.
• Gain hands‑on exposure to PLC programming, machine logic, robotics, and sensor/vision system integration under technical mentorship.
• Support data collection, cycle time analysis, process planning, and troubleshooting to evaluate system performance.
• Participate in prototype testing, trial runs, cell launch validation, and troubleshooting of computerized and automated machinery.
• Prepare and update technical documentation, standard work procedures, and engineering drawings.
• Contribute to lean initiatives, safety audits, and structured coaching patterns.
