Job summary

Amazon seeks an Automation Engineer in Phoenix to maximize equipment reliability and operational performance in our fulfillment centers. You will troubleshoot complex control systems, analyze performance metrics, and drive continuous improvement across MHE systems with PLCs, SCADA, and modern HMI tools.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and work with state-of-the-art conveyors, sortation, scanners, cameras, print/apply systems, and SCADA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, automation engineering, or equivalent, or 2+ years of PLC programming or automation engineering experience.
• Ability to work flexible shifts including weekends/nights/holidays.
• Experience in PLC-based controls design, development, implementation and support.

Responsibilities

• Maintain automation systems critical for operations.
• Troubleshoot PLC/PC controllers and industrial networks (Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Profibus).
• Monitor MHE metrics and partner with maintenance/operations to address issues.
• Provide first-level escalation support for site technicians, local and remote.
• Perform and analyze building system assessments to improve material handling performance.
