Job summary
Amazon in Irving, TX is seeking an Automation Engineer to maximize equipment reliability and operational performance in our fulfillment centers by delivering proactive controls automation and technical support. You will troubleshoot complex control systems, analyze performance data, and drive continuous improvement initiatives across MHE systems.
You’ll work with conveyors, sortation, scanners, cameras, print and apply systems, and SCADA.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or 2+ years PLC/automation experience.
- Experience with Ladder Logic and programming on Siemens/Allen-Bradley/Codesys PLCs.
- Willing to work flexible shifts, including weekends, nights, and holidays.
- Experience with robotics work cells and control systems.
- Experience with automation and robotics fundamentals is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the site expert for maintaining the automation systems critical for operations.
- Understand, maintain and troubleshoot material handling control systems (PLC/PC, Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Profibus, motor drives, servo drives, frequency drives, electrical distribution).
- Monitor MHE metrics and partner with maintenance/operations to address system performance issues.
- Provide first-level escalation support for site technicians, locally and remotely.
- Perform and analyze building System Assessments to enhance material handling system performance.
